Advice Family Friendly Hotels Hotels Things to do Travel

Young Londonist’s picks of top family friendly hotels in London

Unsure of where to start when choosing a child friendly hotel in London? We have done the hard work for you and compiled a list of the top family friendly hotels.

London is a bustling and vibrant place to visit with the kids but sometimes you just don’t know where to start when choosing a suitable child friendly hotel.

So to help you plan your stress-free break we have compiled a concise list of top London hotels where families are guaranteed a warm welcome. Many of these family friendly hotels offer large rooms with ample space and services include: babysitting, cots and bottle warming facilities.

So if you fancy visiting the iconic lions at Trafalgar Square, a day exploring the dinosaurs at the Science Museum or visiting royalty at Buckingham Palace we are sure we have the perfect hotel for you and your brood to stay, sleep or play.

Royal Garden Hotel

When it comes to families, the hotel has thought of pretty much everything including guaranteed connecting rooms, a cot if you need it, micro-scooters to borrow and explore the park (yes please!), the option to have an earlier dinner (from 17:30 – all hotels should do this) in their Park Terrace restaurant and a special children’s room service menu for little ones to relax and enjoy.  Located in Zone 1, this hotel is close to the London Eye, Madame Tussauds, Sea Life and the Tower of London.

With wigwam tents in the rooms for younger guests to enjoy and a London Explorer backpack (containing a water bottle, drawing kit, mini torch and map highlighting Kensington’s family – friendly attractions) we like that two adults and two children can stay in the same room.  Further information can be found via this link.

Their family escape package includes a “Food and Flicks” add on which consists of 24h unlimited movies along with a food platter and refreshments that are delivered to your room which we are sure will keep little ones entertained after a fun day of exploring all London has to offer.

The Chesterfield, Mayfair

Despite being in one of London’s most exclusive neighbourhoods, The Chesterfield is very family friendly and has its own hotel nanny for when you want to leave the kids with a child care professional and enjoy London as an unaccompanied adult. We particularly like their ‘Hardy’s Original Sweetshop’ afternoon tea, which celebrates the joy of rediscovering old favourites with plenty of sweet treats as a fun twist on a more traditional afternoon tea. Located in zone 1, this hotel is close to Hamley’s toy shop, London’s museums, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye and West End theatres.

As a nice touch, children under 12 receive a child size bathrobe and slippers, a printed menu with child’s name and activity colouring books and pencils when dining in the restaurant.  Further details can be found here.
