6–9 June and 11–14 July 2025
📍 Osterley Park, Isleworth – London’s hidden gem
Free entry to view Helios (parkland access)

What Is Helios?

Helios is a breathtaking 7-metre illuminated sculpture inspired by the sun and named after the Greek sun god. This incredible installation will glow against the grand portico of Osterley’s 18th-century neo-classical mansion.

Created using detailed solar imagery and real NASA audio recordings, Helios blends science and art for an immersive, multi-sensory experience whether visiting during the day or night.

Celebrate Eid al-Adha with Helios

The June installation of Helios coincides with Eid al-Adha, providing a stunning visual centrepiece for celebrations. Friends and families are invited to gather in the park and enjoy this symbolic artwork—a tribute to light, life, and togetherness.

Sustainability and Science through art

Luke Jerram, known for previous astronomical works like Museum of the Moon, Gaia, and Mars, has designed Helios to highlight the beauty and science of the sun while inviting reflection on our planet’s future. Scaled at approximately 1:200 million, every centimetre of the sculpture represents 200km of the sun’s surface—featuring detailed sunspots, spicules, and filaments.

The installation also references the solar activity behind the 2024 Northern Lights phenomenon visible across the UK.

Helios offers a safe and powerful way for people to connect with the sun and nature,” says artist Luke Jerram. “It’s a chance to reflect on our place in the universe and the urgent need to protect our planet.”
