History comes alive at the Tower of London this October Half-Term

View of the Tower of London surrounded by a field of red ceramic poppies under a clear blue sky.

Step back in time to post-war London, when the Tower reopened after the Second World War, and discover untold stories of courage, community and creativity. Kids can become roving reporters, meeting costumed characters who’ll share fascinating tales from 1946 — from heroic carrier pigeons like GI Joe to the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force who kept watch over the city skies.

Families can join in, take part in playful performances, and uncover hidden secrets within the Tower’s ancient walls. Or simply enjoy the lively atmosphere as the past comes vividly to life! Don’t miss the stunning display of 30,000 ceramic poppies in the moat, marking 80 years since the end of WWII — a breathtaking tribute and photo spot.

All activities are included with standard admission (kids £17.90, adults £35.80, with special discounts and £1 tickets available for eligible visitors).

As Minette Butler from Historic Royal Palaces explains:

“Flight, Camera, Action! lets families explore the Tower’s hidden stories of resilience and camaraderie — an inspiring part of London’s history.”
