Four young members of the table tennis club at The Greenhouse Centre in Marylebone (part of the Greenhouse Sports charity) went on a dream trip to Edinburgh, at the invitation of the People’s Postcode Lottery to visit their headquarters and present the charity’s work to the staff.
During their visit, the young people, who were accompanied by Greenhouse Centre Head Coach Jason Sugrue, played demonstration games and ran coaching sessions for the staff. The People’s Postcode Lottery also arranged a tour around Edinburgh Zoo for the youngsters who had the opportunity to handle snakes and tropical insects and learn about animal conservation.
The Greenhouse Centre, run by London charity Greenhouse Sports provides subsidised intensive coaching to the local community to improve health and well-being and develop life skills. People’s Postcode Lottery have supported Greenhouse Sports since 2015. They have donated an incredible £1.7million to Greenhouse Sports since then, helping to support their mission to help London’s young people access opportunities and life-changing coaching.
As an appreciation for the support that People’s Postcode Lottery have given to Greenhouse Sports, the youngsters presented them with their own table tennis table, with a ‘thank you from Greenhouse Sports’ inscribed across it.
“The young people from Greenhouse Sports were absolutely wonderful and we were delighted to have them visit us. They’re a credit to the incredible work that Coach Jason and the team do, “ said Stephanie Kerr, Programme Advisor at People’s Postcode Lottery.”
“We had a really amazing time in Edinburgh,” said Coach Jason. “None of us had ever been there before, so it was a great to look around and learn about this beautiful city. The team from People’s Postcode Lottery have been so supportive of us over the years, it was great to go up there to meet them, thank them, and play some table tennis. It was a brilliant trip!”
Josh, one of the Greenhouse Sports table tennis members, said: “I am very thankful for the help players of People’s Postcode Lottery given me over the years both in and out of table tennis. It has helped me experience different things and opportunities I would never have expected!”
