Peter Rabbit live is on this summer in the West End at the Haymarket Theatre and kids can enjoy this wonderful tale of the mischievous rabbit for free with a paying adult as part of Kids Week.
This latest production of Peter Rabbit would make Beatrix Potter proud (unlike the Hollywood adaptation…but let’s not go there!). The play is based on the original book The Tale of Peter Rabbit and when we went to the show we were greeted with an excited audience of young Londoners and little visitors to the capital cooing with delight. Little ones were entertained whilst parents were nostalgically reminiscing about their own childhood. Both children and accompanying adults were left mesmerised and wanting more.

The puppets are handcrafted and morph into one with the actors who add their own personalities to the characters. The kids got to do laundry with Mrs Tiggy-Winkle, hang out with the angry Mr McGregor and his speedy wheelbarrow as he chased Peter and his friends around the garden (and of course Mr McGregor raves and rants about his precious radishes!) and we also saw Jemima Puddle-Duck soar up high in flight and song.
With 14 songs throughout the performance it’s a musical feast for the ears combined with storytelling for the imagination and dancing thrown in for good measure. There are also the familiar voice overs from the BAFTA award winning Miriam Margoyles (Call the Midwife and Harry Potter Films) and Olivier Award-winning Griff Rhys Jones (Not the Nine O’Clock News, It’ll be Alright on the Night).
Peter Rabbit is a story that has lasted the test of time and has enchanted many generations. The Young Londoner’s two year old absolutely loved the show and the whole experience and has been asking for Peter Rabbit ever since.

Where is Peter Rabbit? is on at Haymarket Theatre until September 1st. More info & book tickets here.
