BBC Studios has partnered with the Design Museum to celebrate the multi award winning “Hey Duggee” TV show with a special (but very short running) exhibition this October 2019.
The Designing Hey Duggee exhibition is on from today (25 October 2019) until Monday 28th October with a bunch of never seen before sketches, examples of graphic design in action and some colourful clips from upcoming shows.
Little people (and their parents) can drool over the beautifully colourful designs as well as gaining some insights into the animation and production process that makes Hey Duggee the brilliant show we all know and love.
“As a child I used to go to the then Commonwealth Institute and be inspired by what I saw there.” Says Grant Orchard, the talented creator of Hey Duggee. He explained there was an art shop around the corner from the museum where he recalls buying some of his first sketch pads and now he feels ‘it’s such a privilege to have early sketches, designs and concepts on display at what has now become the Design Museum”
At the launch of the exhibition we got to see three new episodes from the new series launching on the 11th of November, these included Duggee and the History Badge (where the squirrels travel throughout time learning about world history), Duggee and the Art Badge (where squirrels learn how to get creative and arty) and finally the Duggee and the future badge (where the squirrels imagine what the future may hold for them!). All episodes were greatly appreciated by the youngest team member here at HQ who sat mesmerised throughout. We were delighted to have the opportunity to meet a life-sized Duggee who was happy to pose with us.
There is also a part of the exhibition that is interactive and has Hey Duggee themed toys for the youngest visitors to enjoy. The exhibition is quite small though so we would encourage you to combine it with a visit to the Moving to Mars exhibition or a stroll through Holland Park.
Designing Hey Duggee is on at the Design Museum until Monday 28th and is free.
