5 reasons to visit Winter Wonderland 2019 with kids

On the 21st of November 2019 the most festive of destinations, Hyde Park Winter Wonderland returns to London and we’ve compiled 5 reasons why you must visit with the kids.

Winter Wonderland opens on the 21st of November and this year there’s a bunch of new attractions as well as returning favourites. From the UK’s biggest Ice Rink where you can glide along to the live music from the bandstand or the Ice Bar where you can take in some pop art alongside a much needed tipple to viewing a load of Ice Sculptures in the Magical Ice Kingdom. There’s loads to do for Londoners both young and old. If you needed five reasons to visit this Christmas themed wonderland with children – we have found them.

Amazing shows

Paddington™ On Ice will make its UK debut at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland this year, following an incredible success in Germany’s largest theme park. Combining cutting edge choreography, stunning costumes and toe tapping music, the 45-minute show is the perfect length for family members of all ages. Join Paddington on his journey from Peru to London as he meets new friends and finds out that at sea, not everything is plain sailing. Featuring award-winning international figure skaters, Paddington™ On Ice is a show bound to entertain and delight the whole family. Younger visitors to Winter Wonderland can join their favourite Mr. Men and Little Miss characters as they leap off the page in this new live show. Featuring a host of favourite characters and a special appearance from Little Miss Christmas, Happyland bursts into life in a series of colourful and timeless stories told through puppetry and music. Critically acclaimed at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2019, the show has a special seasonal feel and at 45 minutes is also ideal for young children with shorter attention spans. The show is staged in the MegaDome which is fully heated with a Big Top atmosphere and seating.

One of the things that can put people off attending Winter Wonderland is the eye watering bill that accompanies the trip. But fear not as for the first time this year there’s a Season Ride Pass that gives easy access to all of the rides at Winter Wonderland. From roller coasters to fun houses, children’s rides to high octane thrill rides. Yup you heard that right. The Season Ride Pass gives you access to all the above and is easily topped up from your phone. It means you can use it throughout the season, helps manage budgeting throughout the Christmas season and can even be lent out to family and friends. Tickets available here.

Magical Ice Kingdom

The Magical Ice Kingdom returns for 2019 with a brand-new traditional London theme ‘A Christmas Carol’. Journey through the beautifully crafted snow and ice sculptures and re-live the magical story of Dickens’ timeless classic in the UK’s largest ice experience. 500 tonnes of spectacular snow and ice will transport visitors to crisp, wintery world of Tiny Tim and Ebenezer Scrooge and we are so totally there for this! Make sure you wrap up warm.

Take in spectacular views of the city, chill out with the family and enjoy a much needed rest after stomping around the Winter Wonderland. The enclosed pods are bound to be a pretty cosy way to spot famous London landmarks or just relax, munch on some snacks and get a few Insta worthy pics.

Returning with an all new, seasonally themed show, Zippos Christmas Circus will thrill and delight the whole family. Crane your neck at jaw dropping aerial acrobatics and laugh-out-loud clowning. At under an hour, it’s the perfect length for families, there’s a buggy park and space for the kids to run around too. Continuing the circus theme, Cirque Berserk returns with an all new, dystopian-themed show. And we love everything dystopian themed – don’t you? Their international troupe of brave daredevils, aerialists and acrobats have raised the stakes yet again with a show packed with off the chart thrills and mind-blowing stunts. Back by popular demand, The Globe of Death returns with motorcyclists reaching speeds of 60mph as they hurtle around the giant steel cage. It’s a fast-paced, full throttle thrill like no other.
