British Library family fun inspired by fairytales and folk stories

This week the education team at the British Library take inspiration from their favourite fairy tales and folk stories.

Reimagine your favourite fairy tale characters, help Little Red Riding Hood trick the Wolf and design your own storytelling den. You can also download the new activity pack designed by illustrator Viviane Schwarz, to create, write, draw and act out your very own adventures.

Why not start by building your very own fairy tale den inspired by magical lands and mysterious worlds?

Find some pillows, blankets, cushions and whatever else you can find around your home, garden or school. Create a den outside using trees, branches and leaves and add scarves and towels to make doors and windows to hide behind.

What will you build? A castle in the sky or a cottage made of sweets? A dragon’s lair or a warrior’s tent? Use your imagination to create a truly magical place that’s perfect for imaginary adventures.

We’d love to see all your fairy tale fun! Share your creations with us on Twitter or Instagram using #DiscoveringChildrensBooks. Or email them to learning@bl.uk.
