The Very Hungry Caterpillar at ZSL London Zoo this May half-term

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Children’s classic comes to life at ZSL London Zoo this May Saturday 29 May to Friday 16 July 2021

ZSL London Zoo is bringing children’s classic The Very Hungry Caterpillar to life starting this May half-term, with a series of fun activities celebrating the famous picture book and its ravenous, wriggly hero.

From Saturday 29 May to Friday 16 July, visitors will be able to step inside the caterpillar’s miniature world during a packed few months of interactive family events inspired by the popular character.

Children can visit a giant ‘butterfly egg’ for outdoor storytelling sessions, before meeting The Very Hungry Caterpillarhimself to gather tips for tackling their very own food challenge: a journey through a supersized forest of giant fruit and veg, assault-course style, to metamorphosise into beautiful butterflies.

Along the way they’ll meet The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s famous friends, The Bad-Tempered Ladybird, The Very Tiny Cricket and The Very Busy Spider – learning about the importance of wildlife through a series of fun activities, including seed planting in the zoo’s new Wildlife Garden

No wannabe caterpillar’s adventure would be complete without a trip to Butterfly Paradise, where young bug lovers can come wing-to-wing with butterflies and moths from across the globe and learn how to welcome more colourful creatures into their own back garden or playground.

Once transformations are complete, visitors can enjoy the brand-new world of Tiny Giants, a journey of discovery celebrating the planet’s smallest but mightiest animals: from underwater corals and the aquatic wildlife they support, to industrious leafcutter ants, spiders and beetles – species we quite literally couldn’t live without.

After meeting the planet’s tiniest residents, families can supersize their wildlife journey by visiting thousands more of the Very Hungry Caterpillar’s animal friends across the world-famous zoo – including Humboldt penguins on Penguin Beach, Sumatran tigers in Tiger Territory and Asiatic lions in Land of the Lions.

A great value day out, The Very Hungry Caterpillar daytimeactivities are included for free with Zoo entry – book your half-term tickets now at
