Hackney Moves Festival returns from the 24th – 26th September 2021

Hackney Moves, the UK’s largest Outdoor Fitness Festival, returns to Hackney Marshes from Friday 24 - Sunday 26 September 2021 with a truly epic weekend of movement, creative culture, and entertainment

A record 30,000 runners will move to the beat at the Hackney Half (London’s largest and most vibrant half marathon), the Hackney 5K and Hackney Schools’ Challenge. With cheering spectators and a three-day line-up of free entertainment, sports & fitness activities, there will be over 75,000 festival-goers across the Hackney Moves weekend.

Whether running, jogging, hula hooping, rowing, raving, or boxing, Hackney Moves will bring the community together for an ultimate celebration of movement! Highlights Include: A complete workout for the mind and body by Rowbots. HIIT, Dance, Boxing & Yoga classes with Nike’s fittest trainers. High-energy drum n bass boxing sessions by Fight Klub. Raving with the original wellness dance organisers Morning Gloryville. And dedicated workouts curated especially for women courtesy of StrongHer. Official event partners Nike, Bud Zero, Supersapiens, KIND Snacks, Powerbar, Tenzing and CanO Water and recovery experts Myomaster will also bring the event to life across the weekend with product sampling and activations on course and in the festival village. Market on the Marshes is open to the public all weekend and brings together a multitude of Hackney borough’s renowned food trucks, breweries and independent retailers.


The HACKNEY 5K is primed and ready for the next generation of runners aged 13 and above who want that special finish line feeling! The free event is the perfect starter challenge for young and newbie runners, or seasoned runners who need a flexible format with start times on the hour, every hour throughout the day. 

For the first time ever, the Hackney 5K will take in all the Olympic sights as runners wind their way through the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, past the River Lea and the Olympic Velopark. All finishers receive an exclusive NIKE Dri-Fit technical t-shirt, medal and official race-time. 

Plus, youth running initiative the HACKNEY SCHOOLS’ CHALLENGE is back for another year. Hundreds of children (5-11 years) from over 15 Hackney schools will take on the 1.1 mile race to complete their own 13.1 mile challenge.


Headline event the Hackney Half takes place on Sunday 26th September. Whether chasing a PB, fundraising for a charitable cause or back-of-the-pack, thousands of runners will cruise down Mare Street through a carnival of sound, pass by the famous Town Hall, head through the historic Broadway Market, and then take in Hackney Wick, which is flush with vibrant street art.A group of people walking down the street

All runners will receive an exclusive NIKE technical finisher t-shirt, medal, race photos, tote bag and swag!

The public are invited to come down and support runners through the 13.1 mile route and enjoy the activities taking place on Hackney Marshes, with dynamic warm up / cool downs and recovery / stretch sessions. Plus, a multitude of local food & drink trucks with live entertainment and post-race celebrations.
Runners who opted to collect their Race Packs are encouraged to do so from the Help Desk on Friday 24 (1pm – 6pm) or Saturday 25September (9am – 6pm).
