This popular event is back! Learn about how the magic behind our favourite characters, films, shows and attractions is created. This is a nostalgic journey that starts with Walt Disney’s visionary dreams and how they turned into the world-renowned brand that has brought so much joy to generations.
1. Disney stands the test of time
What makes Disney so unique is that all the stories and experiences they created mean something to each one of us. As we passed through each room it was impossible not to recall wonderful memories sparked either by images and stories of how Peter Pan came to life in 1953 (yes it was that long ago!) or by humming along to a familiar musical theme – the Lava song is one we sing often with our young one.
Here is adventure. Here is romance. Here is mystery
Walt Disney
Featuring ten creatively themed galleries, the exhibition showcases rarely seen historical artefacts, compelling stories, original costumes and unique interactive installations spanning 100 years of The Walt Disney Company. Yet, behind the magic is a strong brand and a business that brought together the best creative minds and talent, people that believed in and built on Walt Disney’s visionary philosophies to create the magic and wonder of Disney today.

2. Disney is magic for all ages
While the journey through the themed galleries is nostalgic for adults, young visitors may learn about how beloved characters like Peter Pan, Pinnocchio and Mary Poppins came to life. We admire how Walt Disney’s characters stand the test of time and continue to enchant and fascinate generations of children, their parents and grandparents too.
We have proved that the age-old kind of entertainment based on the classic fairy-tale recognizes no young, no old
Walt Disney
As visitors step back through time, they can enjoy special behind-the-scenes glimpses into the creation of the company’s most popular characters, films, shows and attractions including the actual prop storybook from the opening scene of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Crystalline glass slipper from the remake of Cinderella (would it fit you?) and the Mary Poppins carousel horse in which Dick Van Dyke rode in his role as the lovable Bert.
3. Interactive
By now, pretty much everyone would expect the Disney name to be associated with interractive fun of all kinds! And this show boasts 14 interactive installations – such as where people’s movements make the lovely animated Mickey and Minnie perform on screens; where you can turn the pages of a magic story book to see the written story come to life on screen in front of you; and, our favourite: taking zillions of photos with Disney props and characters (love the Star Wars cute droid BB-8!).
Disney 100: The Exhibition is at ExCeL London, Royal Victoria Dock, E16 1XL until 30 April 2024. Check out their website and to book your tickets here. For our selection of events taking place in London please visit our What’s On page.
