This Christmas, the Fleet Street Quarter is set to transform into a winter wonderland with a magical and free penguin parade sculpture trail in support of WWF. Starting from Thursday, November 14th, families and visitors are invited to embark on a festive adventure to discover 12 adorable penguin sculptures scattered throughout the Quarter.

Each penguin sculpture, adorned in unique festive attire designed by talented artists, will be perched in iconic spots such as Chancery Lane, New Street Square, Ludgate Circus, and Fleet Street. These charming sculptures will add a touch of Antarctic magic to the city, creating a delightful experience for all ages. Come and meet Mr Easy Freezy, get fashion advice from the Pullover Penguin and be inspired by Santa Paws’s colour pallette.

Interactive and Educational Fun

But the fun doesn’t stop at admiring these cute penguins. Each sculpture will reveal fascinating facts about penguins and the Fleet Street Quarter, narrated by the comedic genius Olaf Falafel. Scan the QR codes on each sculpture to get a treasure trove of fun facts, such as how penguins can swim at speeds of up to 22 miles per hour—faster than most Olympic swimmers!

A Sustainable and Artistic Initiative That Supports Conservation Efforts

This enchanting trail also supports a great cause. By scanning the QR codes, visitors can make donations to WWF’s vital conservation efforts. These contributions will help protect penguins and their habitats, ensuring these remarkable creatures survive for future generations.

Produced by global public art specialists Wild in Art, the trail will run for eight weeks. Each penguin sculpture stands at an impressive 1.6 meters tall and is mounted on eco-friendly plinths made from recycled materials. Accompanying plaques will provide insights into the artists’ inspirations, making this not only a festive treat but also an educational journey.

Lucy French, CEO of the Fleet Street Quarter, expressed her excitement: “We are thrilled to bring this enchanting penguin trail to Fleet Street Quarter, providing a fun and engaging way for families and visitors to explore this wonderful historic pocket of the city of London while also supporting the vital conservation efforts of WWF. This initiative not only brings a little joy but also reflects our commitment to creating a sustainable and vibrant community. We hope everyone enjoys discovering these charming creatures and learning more about their world during the festive season.”
