Out and about

With 2.8 hectares of green space per 1000 residents, in London we are just few minutes walk away from an outdoor green space. Whether you are interested in horticulture or just love exploring and learning about nature, there is plenty of things to do. Here is what’s going on this March.

Gorgeous Georgians: Step back in time with Osterley Park and House’s Horrible Histories trail, featuring 10 fun and educational activities about Georgian life. Runs until end of the summer. £12 for adults and £6 for children.

The legendary Pancake Race at Leadenhall Market is on Tuesday 4 March at 12.30pm while the more visually spectacular Inter-Livery Pancake Races at Guildhall Yard starts at 12 on same day. City Livery companies come together on this day to raise money for charity. Organised by the Poulters, the Gunmakers provide (and fire) the starting gun, the Clockmakers time the races and the Fruiterers provide the lemons to go with your pancakes, which are on sale from stands in Guildhall Yard during the racing.

Ramadan Lights  running from until April 6, 2025, this free event illuminates Coventry Street (near Piccadilly Circus) every night from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM, celebrating Ramadan.

The Evolution Garden at the Natural History museum is a journey through life on Earth from the days of the dinosaurs through to today and is free to explore. Check out the Garden Cafe in our latest reel.

Campfire Adventures at the Discover Children’s Story Centre. An after-hours scavenger hunt for supper and a visit to a Monster Funfair and hot chocolate and stories by the campfire is on 29 March. Tickets £31. Suitable for 5-11yo.

The Magic Garden at Hampton Court Palace is a magical children’s playground that provides a unique way for the family to explore the history of the Palace. Access to the new garden is included in Palace admission.

Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt – 29 March to 21 April at Hampton Court Palace gives visitors the chance to hop through stunning palace gardens to find 10 gold bunny statues! Match historical names to their ribbons to solve the puzzle and win a chocolate treat.

Splash, explore, play – a day of outdoor family fun at the London Wetland Centre with an adventure playground, a sound garden and our favourite: the mud kitchen. Tickets from £11.80.

Move it 2025 is all about dance. Performances, classes and international dance competitions at Excel London between 7 – 9 March. Tickets from £29.50

House of Holi – Step into a vibrant paint-throwing pod and celebrate Holi with a 30-minute rainbow fight from 8-16 March at Cinnamon Kitchen. Expect colour, laughter, and festive fun for all. 🎨✨ From £10pp

Family Freestyle Dance at Saddler’s Wells Angel. Workshops 2-4 year olds and their carers led by professional dance artists from £4. Until 28 March.

Barbie The Movie: In Concert is at Royal Albert Hall on 5 March. Tickets £30

The Dream is the London premiere show from the internationally acclaimed Japanese drumming ensemble Drum TAO at the Peacock Theatre, 11 to 15 March.  Tickets £18.

Young Artist Summer Show at the Royal Academy last day to submit your masterpiece for free is 5 March.

Art Sundays at Dulwich Picture Gallery is a free monthly event aimed at the creative 7 – 12 year olds and their families on 30 March.

The Big Egg Hunt 2025 – 24 March to 27 April – This Easter, Elephant Family and Clarence Court bring a city-wide spectacle to London! Makers Club at Young V&A Free Saturday event (until 29 March) where all kids aged 11 to 14 kids are invited to work alongside designers and makers to create a masterpiece.

Explore and play at the British Library. Free event on 30 March.

Naomi in Fashion is at the V&A until 6 April (Tickets from £18) whilst the Young V&A celebrates the creativity of ancient Egyptians with their newest exhibition Making Egypt. A £10 ticket allows multiple entries to this exhibition until Autumn.

Brasil! Brasil! The Birth of Modernism a rare exploration of Brazilian art from 1910 to 1970 at the Royal Academy of Art runs until 21 April. Tickets from £23.50

Mărțișor Day: Romanian Spring Festival! celebrates creativity, culture and Romanian tradition on 1 March and The Bubble Show on 9 March is all about dazzling displays of soap and water. Tickets from £14 at the Arts Depot.

Dino Disco on the 28 March is your opportunity to dance under the Natural History Museum giant whale at this silent disco! With three DJs and tunes for all ages, it’s a prehistoric party you won’t want to miss. £15 per person.

Transported by music: Enjoy classic live music from London’s most talented students, every Friday during term time at the London Transport museum. Kids go free and an adult ticket offers free, unlimited day-time returns for a year.   

Moco Museum: Perfect destination for contemporary art. From Yayoi Kusama and Andy Warhol to Banksy, this friendly museum is the perfect place to explore art and creativity. Marina Abramović’s transformative exhibition, Healing Frequency, exploring mindfulness, resilience and self reflection runs until 11 March. Tickets £22.95.

Ship mates. Sensory sessions for under 5s aboard of Cutty Sark, every term-time Wednesday. Tickets from £5.

The Robot Zoo at Horniman Museum. Family-friendly exhibition features larger-than-life animals made of machine parts. Tickets from £9.75. Runs until November.

Vital Signs: another world is possible  new and free exhibition that explores how the health of nature connects to our own health and well being at the Science Gallery in London until 17 May.

Tots at the Docks. Free monthly play sessions inspired by the history of London’s Docklands. Wed 26 March.

Hard Graft: Work, Health and Rights. The free exhibition at the Welcome Collection explores the profound impact of physical work on health and the body. Ends 27 April.

Sorted! The Postal Play Space indoor play area at the Postal Museum. Hands on 45min play sessions for under 8 year olds. Tickets £4.50

The world of Tim Burton at the Design Museum is focused on the recurrent visual themes and motifs found in the distinctive characters in Burton’s art and films. Tickets from £9.85.

Pirates – 29 March to 4 Jan is coming to the National Maritime Museum and Londoners can uncover the truth about piracy! This exhibition explores legendary pirates, their pop culture legacy, and why their stories still captivate us today. £15 for adults and £7.50 for children.

Linder: Danger came smiling and Mickalene Thomas: All about love at Hayward Gallery celebrate the work of two female contemporary artists. A £19 ticket gives access to both exhibitions.

Art After Dark: Spring Edition 2025 – 6-8 March transforms London’s West End into a cosmic playground! Discover glowing asteroid-sized moon rocks in Piccadilly Circus and towering UV-reactive sculptures nearby.
