Love is in the air: Celebrating Valentine’s season in London

This Valentine’s season, the capital is bursting with unique ways to celebrate love – whether you’re coupled up, or simply smitten with our incredible city, Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to get together and celebrate love in all its glory. The Young Londoner rounded up a quick guide to making February 2026 unforgettable.

Valentine’s Day (and the whole season around it!) often gets a bad rap for being overly commercial or exclusive. But here in London, we know how to do things differently. This year, it’s all about embracing every kind of love: romantic, platonic, familial, and yes, even the love for a good flat white on a chilly morning.

For the romantics: make it special with a dinner, a movie or a show

Indulge in a Valentine’s Day tasting menu at Colonel Saab: Celebrate love with a special five-course Valentine Menu, a glass of exquisite Rose Champagne and complimentary roses at the enchanting multi-award-winning Colonel Saab’s restaurants in HighHolborn and Trafalgar Square. Book now!

Riverside rendezvous & romantic views: Sure, a fancy dinner is nice, but why not elevate it (literally)? Book a private pod on the London Eye for a truly unforgettable sunset experience. The sparkling city lights below are pure magic. Or, for a more serene vibe, grab a hot chocolate and take a stroll along the South Bank, crossing the Millennium Bridge hand-in-hand. The views of St. Paul’s are always a winner. Young Londoner tip: Pre-book your London Eye tickets to avoid disappointment, especially around Valentine’s Day itself!

  • ABBA Voyage in London – the immersive concert from one of the biggest pop acts of all time.

Say it with flowers! The annual explosion of colour at the Princess of Wales Conservatory in Kew Gardens never disappoints. This year the Orchid Festival turns 30 and it celebrates with vibrant, Chinese-inspired displays, complete with floral dragons and koi carp. Orchids After Hours is a true magical evening experience. Advance booking is highly recommended.

Art for a bit of cultural spark. Immerse yourselves in beauty at one of London’s incredible art galleries and museums. The Courtauld Gallery is one of our favourite quiet spots with incredible art on display. If you are arty or feel like releasing the inner creative genie to impress your date, the Tate Modern Intuitive Drawing & Creative Coaching creative experience is for you.

Our special recommendation is the witty and magical operetta Iolanthe. An enchanting production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s sharp satire of power, privilege and parliamentary democracy. This show is at Wilton’s, the incredible grade II listed treasure of a building, the only surviving Grand Music Hall in the world. Their restaurant there is the perfect place to enjoy a pre-show snack and hold hands under the table.

Cozy cinema & cocktails: London’s independent cinemas offer a romantic and more intimate experience. Check out the plush seats and curated film selections at places like Electric Cinema Portobello or Curzon Mayfair. Pair it with a pre-film cocktail at a dimly lit bar nearby, and you’ve got a classic date night with a sophisticated twist.

For the “Gal-entine’s” & mate dates: love your crew!

From the vibrant plates at Dishoom to the social hot-pot dining experiences at Haidilao there’s no better way to catch up and celebrate friendship. Tip: Many places offer special Valentine’s or “Galentine’s” menus, so keep an eye out for deals!

Heavenly Desserts are more heavenly this Valentine Day with their 2 Dine for £22 offer Each guest can enjoy one drink and one dessert or brunch main for all bookings done between 9 to 15 February.

Explore a new nook: London is full of hidden gems. Pick a neighbourhood you rarely visit, like the charming streets of Hampstead Village or the bustling markets of Notting Hill and Camden. Grab a coffee, browse the independent shops, and soak in the atmosphere together.

Brunch & bottomless banter: Gather your favourite people for a Magical Brunch! Be wowed by a dazzling magic performance from the resident host, magician and mind reader plus delicious food, plus 100 minutes of bottomless drinks.

Workshop wonders: Get creative with your pals! Try a pottery painting class, a floral arrangement workshop, or even a pasta-making session. It’s a fun way to learn something new, share some laughs, and leave with a unique souvenir of your friendship.

For the solo adventurer: Love thyself!

Spa day sanctuary: Treat yourself! London boasts some incredible spas. Indulge in a relaxing massage, float in a heated pool, or just enjoy some quiet time away from the city buzz. Places like the AIRE Ancient Baths or the Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre offer ultimate pampering.

Cultural immersion: Gift yourself a day to explore the beauty of London museums and galleries. Take your time ponder over a masterpiece at the National Gallery, get lost in the ancient wonders of the British Museum, marvel at the beauty of pieces on display at the V&A Museum or take in the astonishing architecture of the National History Museum.

Retail therapy: Sometimes, self-love looks like a new outfit! Wander through Covent Garden or Oxford Street, pick up something you adore, and then treat yourself to a delicious pastry from a patisserie like Dominique Ansel Bakery or a gourmet hot chocolate.

This Valentine’s season, London is your oyster. Whether you’re sharing it with someone special, celebrating your besties, or simply falling deeper in love with yourself and this beautiful city, there’s an experience waiting for you.
