Fresh off its triumphant 2025 Olivier Award win for Best Family Show, the UK’s most volatile and beloved live science production is gearing up for a victory lap in the heart of the West End. This summer, Brainiac Live brings its unique brand of mischievous mayhem to the Garrick Theatre for a strictly limited season from 26 July to 30 August.
Don’t try this at home (but come to see them do it here)

Based on the cult-classic Sky One series, Brainiac Live! has spent nearly two decades proving that science is anything but boring. And the 2026 production promises to be more mischievous than ever, taking families on a breathless ride through the weird and wonderful.
“The show has always been about inspiring curiosity and excitement about science in the most entertaining way possible,” says Producer Dan Colman. “There’s no better place to share that energy than in the heart of London.”
From the safety of the Garrick’s velvet seats, you’ll watch the fearless Brainiacs delve into mysteries that would definitely get you grounded (or worse) if you attempted them in your own kitchen. Expect a high-octane celebration of physics and chemistry featuring:
- Liquid nitrogen clouds that swallow the stage.
- Vortex smoke rings blasting through the air.
- Exploding hydrogen balloons (earplugs optional, but recommended!).
- Spinning CO₂ chairs and a relentless stream of kinetic energy.
An award-winning pedigree

While the show feels delightfully chaotic, there is serious expertise behind the madness. The production is a collaborative effort between theatre directors, designers, and a Professor of Public Engagement in Science. This mix of theatrical flair and scientific accuracy has seen the show headline festivals in Dubai, tour to the Sydney Opera House, and most recently, conquer London’s Marylebone Theatre.
Designed for ages 5 and up but genuinely thrilling for adults too, Brainiac Live is a rare breed of family entertainment that bridges the gap between education and pure, unadulterated spectacle.
Catch the chaos
If you can’t make it to the West End this summer, the Brainiacs are keeping busy. The crew is currently embarking on a massive UK tour hitting cities from Bristol to Bradford, alongside resident appearances at Butlins throughout the 2026 school holidays.
Brainiac Live is at Garric Theatre in London between 28 July and 30 August. Tickets on sale now, starting from £19.50. Ticket information and tour dates: www.brainiaclive.com
