Sail through summer with Thames Clippers

There is no better time than the summer holidays to take to the river with MBNA Thames Clippers and visit London’s fun-filled family activities along the way.

Take in London’s most famous landmarks, sailing past the likes of the London Eye, Big Ben, Tower of London, The O2 and Battersea Power Station while travelling to the summer’s best family-friendly events. Grab a snack from the on-board bar, head out to the back deck to take in the sunshine and keep the family entertained with the free audio guide, in:flow, or the Learning the Ropes activity pack.

Battersea Power Station’s Summer Garden Party

Sail to Battersea Power Station Pier for their Summer Garden Party celebrating the relaunch of The Coaling Jetty, a historic jetty located on the River Thames which is now open to the public for the first time in history. Bust the boredom of the holidays and enjoy high energy games and brilliant crafts with family favourites, Sharky & George, this summer.

London Transport Museum

All aboard! Sail along the Thames to Embankment Pier and let the kids take the wheel at the London Transport Museum to explore, climb and role-play their way around classic London transport characters including the ‘Thames Nipper’! A range of summer activities are on offer including Code Makers, where the kids can discover how codes keep London’s transport on the move; and track maintenance, fixing a broken-down mini tube train.

London Bridge City

Cruise to London Bridge City Pier to enjoy a whole host of children’s arts and crafts activities with London Bridge City’s ‘Summer by the River’. Sessions range from interactive dance and theatre workshops, to Davy Jones’ Crafting Workshop, where kids will create their own loot to treasure away.

National Maritime Museum

Disembark at Greenwich Pier and journey to the moon and back with the National Maritime Museum’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing. Royal Museums Greenwich is hosting a range of children’s activities and sessions including ‘A Trip to the Moon’, where kids can create their own shadow puppet and perform a story using moonlight while learning more about the fantastic phenomenon; and other moon-inspired activities involving sculpture and poster design.

The O2

Sail to North Greenwich Pier and visit The O2 for a whole host of family-fun activities. Begin your visit with a view of one of the greatest skylines in the world from Up at The O2, followed by a spot of shopping at ICON Outlet. This summer, visitors to Sky Studios can step inside a free interactive news studio and sit behind the desk while they read the latest Sky News headlines, before or after getting camera-ready with some free face painting. One of the newest spaces, The Garden, will host free activities to keep the kids entertained every Sunday from midday to 5pm until 2 September. From Hollywood Bowl to Oxygen free jumping, there’s something for the whole family at The O2 this summer with an action-packed line-up of activities all under one roof.

Hop on-board MBNA Thames Clippers where kids travel free with a Family River Roamer, an all-day hop-on hop-off ticket for two adults and up to three children (15 years and under) for just £35.60 when you book online. Kids aged 4 and under travel for free as standard.
