The games folks at Roof East in Stratford have brought their crazy golf concept to Battersea and it is so much fun!
After having to rebook several times because of life getting in the way of fun – we finally made it to Birdies under the arches in the new shiny development in Battersea and had the best time.
We visited on a weekend when children over the age of 6 are allowed to play alongside their adult companions. The bright neon lights and crazy interiors had the kid excited even before we started playing the game.
First up we had burgers (recommend the deep friend chicken thigh burger – yum) and fries (particularly enjoyed the truffle and parmesan) alongside delicious cocktails and ginger beer or fresh fruit juices for the kid.
Then on to the course we went. We collected our luminous balls and golf clubs and started playing. This mini golfing course is particularly enjoyable because of the joyful colours, geometric shapes and patterns. There are plenty of easier options for the kids (so they don’t get frustrated when they play) and also a bunch of suitably crazy areas to entertain and delight little Londoners and their families. And there is disco music, which helps when you have to do a single or group celebratory dance.
We spent the longest time on hole number 5 where we had to swing hard enough to the get the ball all the way up to the ceiling and along a tunnel through to the other side. We particularly enjoyed this one. There are also private or low lit areas where, if you were on a date, you may have a quiet mid game kiss.
The music is loud, the cocktails are delicious and vibes are on point so highly recommend coming along with older kids as the very little may feel overwhelmed by all the sensory stimulation (that’s probably why the experience is recommended for 6 years and above).
After we finished we enjoyed taking a walk through the new development and taking in the sights then walked throough the wonderful Battersea Park which remains one of our favourites.
