This bold and festive piece reimagines the traditional Christmas tree as a towering, glowing LED column, marrying the elegance of nature with architectural strength.
A Celebration of Light and Resilience
Anna Lomax’s creation transforms the idea of a tree into a twisting, illuminated column, drawing inspiration from the iconic entrance columns of the museum. The installation symbolizes life, growth, and resilience, echoing both the natural strength of trees and the human ingenuity of architectural design.
“We are thrilled to commission Anna Lomax… Delighting visitors with her playful, site-specific response, Anna has taken inspiration from the iconic columns in our Grand Entrance as well as Prince Albert, Victoria’s beloved husband, who popularised the traditional Christmas tree in Britain.” V&A Senior Curator Meneesha Kellay shared.
