Celebrate love with a special five-course Valentine Menu, a glass of exquisite Rose Champagne and complimentary roses at the enchanting multi-award-winning Colonel Saab’s restaurants in HighHolborn and Trafalgar Square.
Adored by celebrities such as Jennifer Coolidge, Reese Witherspoon and Jackie Chan, Colonel Saab’s restaurants are the ultimate A-list hotspots, where luxurious food is beautifully served in an elegant setting bathed in romantic lighting from a canopy of ornate chandeliers. The whole romantic experience is arguably London’s most delicious love letter from the heart of India.
On the menu
The Kadhi Pakoda Mouse followed by Kadak Seekh Kebab or Black Pepper Paneer Tikka is the delicious prelude to Colonel Saab’s famous Malabar Chicken Curry or Makhmali Palak Paneer served with layered paratha and rice.
This indulgent culinary experience concludes with the most refined desert choices: the ‘Consummation of Love’ taking the form of their famous Thandai Crumble with vanilla ice cream, or the Shikanji Rose Tart with red wine-poached figs.
And to finish it off, you are encouraged to take your time to savour scrumptious Valentine’s chocolate petit fours with your tea or coffee.
The “Love Letter” theme extends to the bar, where the cocktail list features drinks named after Choudhary family members. Working with the Diageo mixology team, the restaurant has created a Masala Dabba (spice box) of artisanal gins, whiskies and rums infused with Indian botanicals—proving that at Colonel Saab, every detail, from the decor to the drinks, tells a story.
A feast for the eyes too
Roop Partap Choudhary launched his flagship restaurants as a “homage” to his parents and their travels across the Indian continent. It was a gamble that paid off. The restaurants quickly garnered accolades from Forbes, swept the Asian and British Curry Awards, and even won over Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, who hailed it as “the only place which serves the authentic flavours from home.”
“We opened Colonel Saab to celebrate India’s diverse cultures and introduce the capital to the authentic flavours and textures… lovingly prepared at home, at the street market and in royal kitchens across India.” — Roop Partap Choudhary
Colonel Saab’s newest venue in Trafalgar Square promises to dial up the opulence. Designed as a multi-sensory experience, the space is set to be a treasure trove of eclectic Indian art and artefacts—many collected by the founding Choudhary family during their own travels and brought to London under challenging conditions. The centerpiece? An opulent dining room bathed in light by a canopy of ornate chandeliers, hand-crafted in Firozabad.
With a sleek bar, a mezzanine lounge and two private dining rooms, the venue successfully blends the warmth of an Indian home with the sophistication of a London hotspot.
The man behind the name
To understand the menu, one must understand the man on the masthead. “Colonel Saab” was the honorific title given to Roop’s father, Colonel Manbeer Choudhary, during his service in the Indian Army.
The restaurant’s concept is born from the Colonel’s postings across India, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Binny Choudhary. Their journey spanned the culinary spectrum: from traditional local lunches in the tents of Rajasthan to British-inspired breakfasts in the Officers Mess, and elaborate banquets hosted by Maharajas. Often, the recipes on offer are passed down through generations, ensuring that the menu captured the diversity of the continent.
Diners can expect regional specialities rarely seen on UK high streets. Highlights include the Gutti Vankaya (an Andhra curry featuring baby aubergines in tangy tamarind gravy) and the Falahari Curry Kofta. For those seeking comfort, the Sunday Lamb Curry promises to be a winter staple.
Colonel Saab’s 5 course Valentine tasting menu is £140 per couple and is served on 12, 13 and 14 February 2026 at Colonel Saab in Trafalgar Square.
